We are WHH – Welthungerhilfe
Welthungerhilfe has been supporting rural development projects in India and Bangladesh through local partner organizations who work with the most vulnerable and marginalised people. We have a long history of reaching out to people in need and the guiding principle of our work is ‘helping people help themselves’, which also extends to emergency situations such as natural disaster or civil wars, where those affected are steadily supported to assume responsibility for their lives.

The “Freedom from Hunger Campaign” prompted Federal President Heinrich Lübke to set up the “German Commission for the Fight Against Hunger” in 1962. In doing so, he wrote the first chapter of the history of Welthungerhilfe. Since then, the association has persistently followed its goal: to secure nourishment for all people. Now, 60 years later, Welthungerhilfe is one of Germany’s largest non-governmental aid organisations.
